A family of shareholders are ready to retire after buyer signs on the dotted line…

Our client designs, manufactures and installs a wide variety of specially crafted signs. The business is based in Feltham, West London, and commenced trading in 1989.

After experiencing significant growth, About Signs moved to its former premises in 1991, which included a showroom that was later extended.

The business then moved to its current, larger, modern manufacturing unit in 2006 – maintaining a strong client base and steady financial performances.

The family-run business is owned by husband and wife Michael John and Inger Newman, and main shareholder: son, John Newman.

Having built up the business over the course of 30 years, our clients decided to offer About Signs for sale as part of their retirement plans.

The Newmans reached out to Knightsbridge to facilitate this for them, which saw Senior Deal Executive Jennifer Morley take helm of the sale.

With help from Regional Commercial Director Chris Darroux, 39 enquiries turned into eight viewings, which led to three competing offers being tabled.

About Signs was acquired by fellow London-based Barrett Ventures, a private equity partner company founded by its namesake, Andre Barrett, in 2016.

Jennifer concluded: “It’s always rewarding to see a business transition smoothly and into capable hands. Huge congratulations to both parties.”
