Best Choice Direct Retail & E-commerce Business Sold to Khan Group of Companies
Knightsbridge calls on a repeat buyer, praised for “excellent communication and professionalism”… “Outstanding support and service” Operations Manager Leanne Boulding led the sale of Best Choice Direct Limited, describing the Stoke-on-Trent based company as “a wholesaler of convenience products with 870 active customers that provide a regular and reliable income stream. “Best Choice has significant scope to increase marketing activity and its geographical remit. It was founded by Martin Davey in 2010, who contacted us to sell his business to facilitate his retirement.” Turnover, gross profit and shareholder funds have seen year-on-year increases in recent years, with Martin concluding the timing of the sale to be right, and made the decision to reach out to Knightsbridge for help. With the help of Regional Commercial Director Martin Baars, several potential buyers were sourced and five meetings were conducted. Two competing offers were submitted and the Knightsbridge team worked hard to negotiate the best possible offer for Martin. In the end, Best Choice was acquired by twin brothers Ashfaq and Arfat Khan in a substantial deal. The pair formed the Khan Group of Companies in 1997, and have made several similar acquisitions in the past, particularly within the Stoke area. Its food distribution arm, Pentagon Food Group, was established in 2001 and has been a cornerstone of the group’s success. This is where Best Choice will fit into the group, as Leanne explained: “The Khans bought another business via KBS Corporate in the past – this is how we sourced them as a potential buyer.
