Industrial finishing businesses often operate behind the scenes, yet they play a critical role across sectors such as construction and stadium seating manufacturing. BJ Plastics commenced trading in 1972 and was later acquired by holding company BJ Powder Coating in 2016, with the group operating from Wolverhampton, West Midlands.
Providing both electrostatic and dip coating services, the business holds a distinctive position in its region. It is understood to be one of only two known providers of dip coating within the West Midlands, serving commercial clients across construction, education and stadium seating manufacturing with strong levels of repeat custom.
Operating from a 12,000 sq ft freehold site in Wolverhampton, the company benefits from long-term energy contracts secured at favourable rates, alongside installed solar capacity. The premises were included in the transaction, providing additional operational stability and long-term security for the acquirer.
The group was brought to market to facilitate Managing Director Jeremy Benson’s retirement plans, with a focus on securing the right long-term buyer. The deal completed in six months for a significant fee, reflecting the strength of the business and its established regional position.
With the transaction was led by Knightsbridge Operations Manager Leanne Boulding, BJ Powder Coating was acquired by Global Metal Finishers, Wolverhampton, led by Ranjit Dura, as part of a strategy to expand its existing metal finishing and industrial services operations.
The acquisition strengthens the buyer’s regional capability and builds on BJ Powder’s established client base and technical provision. Knightsbridge wishes Jeremy every success in retirement and the very best to Ranjit and his team as they develop the business further.
