A well-established Hereford automotive specialist known for servicing and restoring 4×4 vehicles has changed hands following a competitive sale process.
Hereford 4×4 specialises in servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and restoration work for Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. Established in 2001, the business has built a strong reputation in the region through its technical expertise and long-standing customer relationships.
Owned by Carole Gavin, the business was brought to market to support relocation plans after many years developing its position within the Herefordshire automotive sector.
Operating from centrally located premises in Hereford, the company provides a range of services including repairs, MOT preparation, diagnostics and custom rebuilds, particularly for Land Rover Defenders and classic vehicles.
Over time, Hereford 4×4 has built a loyal customer base driven largely by reputation and word-of-mouth recommendations. Around 98% of customers return to the business when services are required, reflecting its strong standing locally.
Sara Manville, Knightsbridge Operations Manager, led the sale and highlighted the company’s reputation and operational structure as key factors that made the opportunity particularly attractive to buyers.
Regional Commercial Director Chris Darroux represented the sale, working alongside Sara to guide the transaction through to completion.
Commenting on the strength of the business, Sara said:
“This was a well-established business in a great location with a strong reputation and a capable management team already in place. Those fundamentals generated strong interest in the market and ultimately led to multiple offers.”
The business attracted strong buyer interest during the sale process, progressing through ten viewings and receiving four offers before completing with Antony and Pierce Martyn of Martyn Group, established in the same year in a nearby location.
The successful buyers plan to build on the company’s established position within the specialist 4×4 sector while growing the business as part of their wider automotive interests.
Sara added: “Antony and Pierce were an excellent fit for the business. They intend to grow Hereford 4×4 further and operate it together as a family venture.”
