MB Motors (Addington)

“I have recently sold my family’s business with Knightsbridge and what a job Leanne did!”

These are the words of Clair McGee, shareholder of South London-based MB Motors (Addington), following the successful sale of the long-established automotive repair business.

Founded in 1986 by Martin Hammond, MB Motors provides vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair services, supporting both domestic and commercial customers. Over nearly four decades, the business has built a strong reputation within its local community, underpinned by a loyal client base and consistent repeat custom.

Having developed the business over a number of years, the shareholders brought MB Motors to market to facilitate retirement plans, while enabling Clair to pursue other ventures. The opportunity generated strong interest, resulting in a choice of offers and a significant outcome for the shareholders.

Reflecting on “a very challenging and extremely complex sale”, led by Operations Manager Leanne Boulding, Clair said:

“Leanne was such a help all the way through. She didn’t just help to sell the business, but was there emotionally as well. She guided us through what felt like a total minefield of things I had very little knowledge of.

“She always took the time to explain everything and reassured me, which made the whole experience much easier. This sale was not easy and I think it will be one she remembers for a long time.”

Concluding, Clair commented:

“There were times I wanted to give up, but Leanne was always so supportive and guided me through. I can’t thank her enough, and the team behind her, who were always there to help if Leanne wasn’t available. “I would highly recommend using Knightsbridge.”

The business was ultimately acquired by We’Fix Autocentres, an automotive repair group founded in 2020 by Thiyagarajan Perin and based in Ilford, Essex. The acquisition was completed as an investment, with the buyer recognising the strength of the company’s established customer base and local presence.

As part of the transaction, the shareholders have retained ownership of the property, with a lease agreed for the buyer to continue operating from the site. Following completion, the shareholders have stepped away from the business as part of their retirement plans, marking the close of a long period of ownership.

The Knightsbridge team wishes them all the best for the future and looks forward to seeing MB Motors continue under its new ownership.
