Moo Canoes

Moo Canoes has been brought into new ownership in a deal that sees the East London paddlesports operator join neighbouring hospitality group Barge East & Skuna Boats.
Established in 2012 by Catherine Hogarth and Alfie Hatt, the business has carved out a recognisable position along London’s canal network, delivering canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding experiences from multiple locations.
A defining feature of its offer is The Milk Float — a licensed floating bar and restaurant that adds a social element to its activity-led model.
Blending leisure with experience-based events, the company has attracted a broad mix of customers, from private groups to corporate bookings, including a number of well-known organisations. Its presence on the waterways, combined with a distinctive brand, has helped it maintain consistent demand and strong repeat usage.
The shareholders opted to bring the business to market as they look to focus on new ventures. Led by Deal Executive Karen Clarke, the process drew solid engagement, leading to seven meetings and three offers before terms were agreed.
Barge East & Skuna Boats, already operating in close proximity, identified an immediate synergy between the two operations. Known for its floating restaurant and canal-based leisure concepts, the group is well placed to incorporate Moo Canoes into its existing offering and expand its footprint across the capital’s waterways.
With both businesses sharing a similar setting and customer base, the acquisition creates a more joined-up experience on the canal — bringing together activity, hospitality and events within a single location.
The Knightsbridge team wishes Catherine and Alfie all the best in their next chapter, and every success to Barge East & Skuna Boats as they take the business forward.
