Completed sale
Poppies Sheffield

Poppies Sheffield has been sold within eight months of going live on the market, allowing owner Nigel Bayliss to realise his retirement plans.
Founded in 1995, the Sheffield-based business operates as part of the wider Poppies franchise, providing domestic and commercial cleaning services across the region. Its work spans regular and ad hoc domestic cleaning, moving home support, independent living assistance, office cleaning and Airbnb cleaning.
The business had built a trusted local reputation, supported by repeat custom, a 4.8-star Trustist rating and long-standing client relationships. It also benefited from an established management structure, with day-to-day operations supported by an in-house business manager, office clerk, supervisors and dozens of part-time cleaners.
These factors helped present Poppies Sheffield as an established cleaning operation with recognised brand support, regional presence and continuity beyond the owner’s day-to-day involvement.
Regional Commercial Director Jay Bettle represented the opportunity, with Deal Executive Rose Fitzsimmons also supporting the transaction. The buyer responded to a Daltons advert, with the process attracting 34 interested parties.
“The process generated multiple offers, with increased offers secured from both final interested parties,” said Karen Clarke, Deal Executive at Knightsbridge, who handled the transaction through to completion. “We managed to broker a deal that satisfied both parties.”
The buyer, West Yorkshire-based private investor Domonkos Bobak, was looking to build a portfolio. His interest provided a clear route for Poppies Sheffield to move into new ownership while continuing to serve its established customer base.
Reflecting on the transaction, Karen added: “It was a pleasure working with both buyer and seller to see this deal through to completion and to help the seller realise his plans for retirement.”
For Knightsbridge, the sale demonstrates the value of creating competitive tension and maintaining momentum throughout a process. The team wishes Nigel every happiness for the future, and every success to Domonkos Bobak as he takes Poppies Sheffield forward.
