Sarsen Stone Group Acquires Baked Tiles Retail & E-commerce Company | Case Study

Knightsbridge completed the successful sale of a design specialist…
Our client, Edit Home & Design, is a Welsh business trading as Baked Tiles – a design-focused online tile specialist which has honed the interior design process and offers exclusive ranges inspired by current trends.
Baked Tiles was founded in 2013, but remained dormant until the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, during which the Directors decided to relaunch the business due to a worldwide rise in online sales and home renovations.
Whilst mother company Edit Home & Design suffered heavily due to the pandemic, Baked Tiles emerged as a huge success and has since been voted as one of the UK’s top tile brands by Country and Town House Magazine.
It was formed by Lesley Taylor, its Design Director, whose family’s involvement in the industry goes back to the 1960s. John Metcalf and Neil Chidgey operate as the Chairperson and Financial Director, respectively.
The board decided to offer Baked Tiles for sale to facilitate growth under the impetus of a new owner. Neil reached out to Knightsbridge for selling advice, after which Associate Director Sara Thomasson was availed.
Martin Baars, Knightsbridge Regional Commercial Director, represented the team in the sale, which drew the interest of 17 active buyers and conducted 4 formal meetings. After which, a lucrative offer was received…
In a highly substantial deal, Baked Tiles was acquired by family-run Sarsen Stone Group, a Wiltshire-based, similar business founded in 1989 by Hamish Smith – known for brands such as Ca’ Pietra, formerly Artisans of Devizes.
Sara commented: “It has been a smooth and collaborative process, and we extend our congratulations to both parties on achieving a positive outcome. The Knightsbridge team wishes the very best of success to all involved.”
