Shirehampton Bakery
Shirehampton Bakery has been acquired by Parsons Bakery, bringing a long-standing Bristol bakery into an established South West bakery group.
The sale connects a village bakery that has served Shirehampton for more than 60 years with a regional operator known for neighbourhood shops and locally baked products.
Based on Shirehampton High Street, the bakery has built a strong local presence over many decades. In the sale materials, one customer described the shop and its staff as having “the heartbeat of their community in everything they do.”
The bakery offers a traditional range of freshly made products, including bread, cakes, savouries, sandwiches, breakfasts and drinks. It also holds a five-star food hygiene rating and caters for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free preferences.
Since the current shareholders took over in February 2024, turnover had doubled. That recent momentum helped present Shirehampton Bakery as a local bakery with an established customer base, community presence and further scope for growth.
Knightsbridge positioned the opportunity around the bakery’s long-standing local role, handmade product range, experienced staff team and potential to develop areas such as wholesale, catering and local events.
The process generated three offers, with Deal Executive Tom Lowe handling the transaction through to completion. The sale gave the shareholders a completed outcome following a change in personal circumstances.
The buyer, Parsons Bakery, operates 48 stores across 10 counties in the South West. Now owned by its team through an Employee Owned Trust, the business combines regional scale with a bakery-shop model built around local teams and neighbourhood stores.
That made Parsons Bakery a fitting buyer for a bakery rooted in its own local community. The acquisition gives Parsons an additional Bristol presence, while placing Shirehampton Bakery with an operator experienced in high-street bakery retail.
For Knightsbridge, the buyer fit was clear: Parsons understood the product, the trading model and the role a traditional bakery can play in its local area.
