A substantial fee, 77 enquiries and completion within five months of going live on the market delivered the outcome owners Deborah Jones and Russell Palin were looking for with the sale of their business.
Established in 1974, Vanguard Alarms is a Shropshire-based security systems specialist providing installation and maintenance services across intruder alarms, CCTV, door access systems and monitoring. Across more than five decades of trading, the company has built a strong local name, supported by recurring service and monitoring income, more than a thousand active clients and an experienced engineering team.
Vanguard Alarms is NSI Gold certified and serves clients across Shropshire and the surrounding counties. For a buyer already working in the security sector, the appeal was clear: an accredited operator with a loyal client base, regular service income and long-standing technical expertise.
The business was brought to market to facilitate Deborah and Russell’s retirement plans. Led by Deal Executive Peter Taberner, the process generated 77 enquiries, 21 meetings and multiple offers before Protect & Serve Home Security was selected as the buyer.
Birmingham-based Protect & Serve Home Security, led by Michael Vry and Anthony Armstrong, provides home security systems, CCTV and 24/7 monitoring. The company is part of The On Call Security Group, which describes itself as one of the UK’s largest security groups.
Peter commented: “The buyer liked the synergy between the two businesses and wanted a quick process with no hold-ups. Protect & Serve was exactly the type of acquirer our clients were hoping for: already operating in the sector and looking for a business that fitted well with its own.”

The transaction allows Deborah and Russell to step into retirement, while placing Vanguard Alarms with a buyer that can carry its local reputation, recurring customer relationships and technical expertise into its next stage.
